Astronomical Viewpoints on La Palma

La Palma features several strategically located astronomical viewpoints for sky observation, including Llano del Jable and Llano de La Venta, now restored after the 2021 eruption.

La Palma features several strategically located astronomical viewpoints for sky observation. Two prominent locations are Llano del Jable (El Paso) and Llano de La Venta (Breña Baja), both situated in the Refugio del Pilar area along the LP-301 road at elevations exceeding 1,300 meters.

From these vantage points, visitors can experience a wonderful starry sky and during moonless periods throughout the year, observe the Milky Way.

The 2021 volcanic eruption affected these sites considerably, but intensive cleanup operations removed volcanic ash deposits, restoring accessibility.
